Vikings Club Hummer give-away
I know Steve would be particularly disappointed about this, given Rentoid’s position on Hummers: “Hummers aren’t welcome here. Buy yourself a hybrid and rent it out instead.“:
The H3 consumes about 15 litres per 100 km … compared to my Mini Cooper S which does 8 L/100km.
Glug glug.
Not to mention that putting big cars on the road only takes up unnecessary space.
80% of the non-trade vehicles that go past my bus stop in the morning have a single occupant, the driver.
We really need to do something about that.
But back on topic: Hummers are bad.
That $5,000 in “cash and petrol vouchers” mentioned in the competition ad? At current petrol prices, that won’t even last 6 months. And current petrol prices aren’t going to stay current for long. I believe I heard we could be looking at at least a doubling of fuel costs, to over $3 per litre within the next 6 months.
So it might be all nice for the first few months … but when you have to start forking out $300 a week in petrol then you won’t be laughing.

I think Hummers should be banned in Australia. I was talking to a friend’s friend about cars and she was excitedly telling me about the Hummer that she and her partner had ordered. It would take a few months to arrive due to the huge waiting list of people buying hummers! I was keen to understand if they had thought about the environmental impact of the hummers. The scary thing was that they said they did but they still wanted the hummer.
We’re looking at upgrading our car to a more environmentally friendly vehicle. The Minis are on my wish list
