Review of the National Innovation System: Advisory committee of web 2.0 practitioners

The Venturous Australia - building strength in innovation report that commissioned by Senator Kim Carr earlier this year was published on 29 August 2008. Among the recommendations contained in that report was Recommendation 10.2:

An advisory committee of web 2.0 practitioners should be established to propose and help steer governments as they experiment with web 2.0 technologies and ideas. At least five substantial experiments should be established in different areas within two years to be evaluated within three. The Minister for Finance and Deregulation should have carriage of the initiative.

Now I haven’t heard any motions yet coming from Government in this direction but John Haining has set up a community-voted panel of people in Australia who should be considered for forming this advisory committee.

Let’s see if we can get this list onto the desk of the Minister for Finance and Deregulation Lindsay Tanner.

UPDATE: I’m now on that list so if you think I should represent in that advisory committee if we manage to get that list to the right people then vote me up; also have a look at Dave Wallace’s venturous_australia aggregated feed of all things relating to the innovation report.

You know, I think that list is a great idea… but with such a huge expat community o/s perhaps the post should have been titled Web 2.0 and Enterprise 2.0 Gurus -for- Australia…

I can think of one or two people that would like to be involved. ;)
