User and Social Experience Design
A new network for self-employed UX professionals, plus other events for freelancers and entrepreneurs in Canberra.
Leisa Reichelt has started a Ning network for UX freelancers and consultants around the world to connect, share and support each other. There are also sub-groups for countries and regions including Canada, the US, UK and Australia.
If you’re a user experience freelancer or consultant then join the network and head over to the welcome and introductions topic and say hi.
Also if you’re a freelancer in Canberra then you might be interested in the Canberra Freelancers and Entrepreneurs Coffee events – follow @CanberraFEC for the announcement of the next event in January 2010.
While I’m speaking of social networking I also suggest you look at Schmooze in Canberra (but now expanding to other cities in Australia). I haven’t been to any of their events yet but I’ve heard good things about them and will be attending at least a few events early next year as I was successful in bidding for free membership in exchange for providing event photography services for 6 events.
There’s also the User Experience Network for which I’m the local ambassador in Canberra. Currently I’m just blogging and maintaining the Twitter account @UXnetCanberra but will soon be undertaking other activities like interviewing local UX professionals about what they do, how they work, challenges and best experiences etc and sharing those interviews as podcasts.
